Partner & Managing Director Dan Piatkowski recently spoke with ChICAGO BUSINESS JOURNAL about the launch of Performance Real Estate Advisors.
“We are seeking opportunities in the Chicago area,” Piatkowski, a partner and managing director of PREA, told the Chicago Business Journal. “Our firm has specialized affordable housing real estate experience with project-based Section 8, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, and various other affordable housing programs. Given the fact that the properties are fully occupied and the rent is guaranteed by the government makes for very attractive real estate opportunities for all kinds of investors from regional owners to institutional investors.”
He added that typically buyers of affordable housing properties are those looking for a certain return on their investment or a developer looking to buy and renovate the property using government grants.
“The affordable housing industry is an underserved real estate space,” he said. “There are about 30,000 affordable housing communities across the country and there’s only a small group that focus on this specific space. This provides an opportunity for our firm to be creative with what we do and how we get a deal across the finish line.”
